Kadin North Sumatra and KPK Hold Coordination Meeting on Preventing Corruption in AMDAL Services

Medan – The North Sumatra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin North Sumatra) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting transparency and legal certainty in the region’s licensing process. The commitment was demonstrated through the organization of a Coordination Meeting on Corruption Prevention in Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL) approval services with business stakeholders in North Sumatra, held at the Kadin North Sumatra Building in Medan on Friday (18/09/2026).

The strategic meeting was attended by Chairman of Kadin North Sumatra Firsal Dida Mutyara, accompanied by Deputy Chairman for Maritime, Investment and Foreign Affairs of Kadin North Sumatra Martono Anggusti and Deputy Chairman for Legal Affairs and Human Rights of Kadin North Sumatra Azwir Agus.

Chairman of Kadin North Sumatra Firsal Dida Mutyara emphasized that AMDAL licensing essentially represents a meeting point between two legitimate interests.

“AMDAL licensing is where two legitimate interests meet. On the one hand, the government seeks to ensure environmental protection. On the other hand, businesses want to operate with legal certainty,” Dida said.

Dida further explained that the coordination meeting served as a forum to establish a common understanding regarding timelines, costs, and procedures, so that there would be no further discrepancies in implementation.

“Kadin North Sumatra shares the same expectation: to ensure AMDAL services are fast, transparent, and provide legal certainty. With good services, investment will grow, MSMEs can move up the value chain, and we can jointly realize quality economic growth in North Sumatra,” Dida said.

On the same occasion, Deputy Chairman for Maritime, Investment and Foreign Affairs of Kadin North Sumatra Martono Anggusti said that Kadin North Sumatra’s main commitment to strengthening a clean and transparent licensing ecosystem is to support the improvement of the system.

“Kadin North Sumatra appreciates the North Sumatra Provincial Government’s efforts to improve public services and is ready to disseminate official service standards so that our members across all 33 regencies and municipalities understand the procedures and complete the required documents from the outset,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman for Legal Affairs and Human Rights of Kadin North Sumatra Azwir Agus added that Kadin’s educational commitment is to encourage all business members to use authorized consultants and follow the licensing process in accordance with applicable regulations.

Meanwhile, Head of Task Force at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK RI) Directorate for Coordination and Supervision of Region I, Uding Juharudin, expressed his appreciation for Kadin North Sumatra’s proactive initiative.

The KPK emphasized the importance of preventing corruption in environmental licensing services to close opportunities for illegal levies and gratification, thereby maintaining a healthy and accountable investment climate in North Sumatra.

“Through this coordination meeting, Kadin North Sumatra and the KPK RI hope that synergy between the government and the business community will become stronger, while also providing certainty for investors who wish to contribute to the development of North Sumatra,” Uding said.
